Matt and Sophie were in Washington D.C. to cover the National 4-H Council's initiative related to increasing Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) training across the United States. As part of this effort, 4-H will be sponsoring an annual:

National Youth Science Day
October 8, 2008

Their video interview with Secretary Schafer is below, in which they ask him about the importance of teamwork in accomplishing goals and his assessment of how the United States can stay competitive in the Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) fields given the various challenges of today.

At right is one of the engaging and creative promotional posters for the campaign. It features text about a former 4-H youth who went on as an adult to make discoveries in circuitry that led to the development of mobile devices that connect people around the world!

Pictured below are more 4-H teens who attended the D.C. event and who share a common interest in science!
