Tyrus jumping on the trampoline
I thought it would be fun to shoot some footage of trampoline jumping and play with the speed and effects.
By Tyrus Wilcox, 4-H Network News reporter/videographer
Playing with Physics!
Tyrus Wilcox, 4-H Network News cameraman, created this video, using footage he took while playing on a pogo stick and skateboard. Tyrus went wild with video filters to see what he could experiment with stylistically. He also played with Garage Band, mixing various tracks and clips to match the style he was after in each section of the video.
Check out the result! Great job, Tyrus!

4-H youth excel at basketball!
Before the game even began they were there for their team photographs.

4-H Network News was there. Pictured here holding the camcorders are Jeremy Van Berkom on the left and Josh King on the right. The other 4-H kids were on the opposite end of the playing court. They could take pictures of each other as shown in the following photo.
This was a exciting game. They played hard against a very challenging team and earned every point. The opposing team had presence on the court. On this side of the court the 4-H camera people were Devon Greenwood, Dustin Finley, and Josh Steele. On the opposite side of the court is 4-H camera person Jade Senner with camcorder.

Andrea Lara dexterously throws the basketball through the hoop. In the background you can see some of the local community that was there to support the kids. Andrea Lara played a high energy game that overcame the height advantage of the opposing team. Not shown here is the basketball Andrea Lara threw successfully going through the hoop. Not shown is Sue Hay with camera to the right, Raphael Winters behind, and Ginnie and JoAnn with the younger 4-H Afterschool Forestry Program kids, who also attended the game seated to the left.

After the game everyone showed their good nature by shaking hands with the opposing team (not shown) and walked around the edge of the court and out through these doors in the far corner.
It was a high temperature game, but any game that you can walk away from is a good one. Shown here is Naeomie Barrow (also a 4-H'er) walking out the door after the game.
This player was thoughtful enough to greet the kids in 4-H Network News upon their arrival. She also remembered to say goodbye to them and 4-H Network News camera person Jade Senner on their departure.

Skate park closed for graffiti repair
| After 10 years of planning, the Port Townsend Skate Park opened Saturday March 25, 2006. PORT TOWNSEND LEADER - The Port Townsend skatepark was closed on Wednesday, Aug. 9 and remains closed until graffiti can be removed from two of the park's bowls, said Public Works Director Ken Clow. He estimated that it may be several days until the park can re-open. However, Wednesday afternoon, the barricades and warning tape at the front entrance had not stopped young people from using other parts of the park. The new skate park rules include closure to the public should graffiti become a problem. | |

Skateboarding: A Dance with Risk
Category: Skateboarding
Skateboarding is a fun and challenging sport. It's great activity for the young and the old. This video is a reminder about the importance of wearing a helmet (featuring our local Port Townsend, WA youth and the O'Meara Dance Studio).

Peggy Oki at the Port Townsend Skateboard Park
Category: Skateboarding
Peggy Oki visits the Port Townsend Skateboard Park in Washington State to encourage girls to skateboard, as well as increase public awareness about the negative impact of whaling. Since the moratorium on whaling in the 1980s there have been over 25,000 whales killed.
Peggy would like to have your help to create an origami curtain made of 25,000 origami whales to help raise awareness of this crucial issue. You can reach her at www.peggy-oki.com

Jim Anderson: The Girls Rock Skate Jam July 12
Skateboard legend kicks off girl power event
Dogtown skateboarding legend, surfer, artist and marine mammal rights activist Peggy Oki is slated to attend the first Girls Rock Skate Jam at the Port Townsend Skate Park on Wednesday, July 12.
Oki is most noted as one of the Dogtown skaters on the Zephyr Skateboard team, also known as the Z-Boys, in the early ’70s. She was the only female on the team, and she won many competitions and out-styled many of the guys. She still skates to this day and is often seen cruising the skate parks near her home in Carpinteria, Calif. (More)

O'Meara Dance performance
This is an extremely shortened version of about two hours of footage shot in the McGurdy Theatre at the Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. My two favorite acts can be found here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7668673166628781764
