After 28 years as the Jefferson County Fair Home Arts super- intendent, Eileen Martin is hanging it up. Martin will retire in October.

"I am going to have more time to myself," says Eileen. "I am going to do family research." In 1973, she began studying her family's genealogy and has been a regular volunteer with the Jefferson County Historical Society Research Center.

Martin first attended the Fair in 1949 as a member of the Gardiner 4-H club. In 1950, her mother, Georgie Knapp, became a leader for the Jefferson County 4-H'ers who attended Sequim School. Eileen helped her mother with the ribbons for every open class and 4-H event in the Fair. Her mother retired from that volunteer job in 1961.
