INMAN, KS -- Crafts, science experiments, sewing, GPS -- those are just some of the activities Inman Elementary students will be able to participate in through the new 4-H After School program.
The Inman Elementary School Site Council and the McPherson County Extension Office are partnering to bring the program, which provides after school activities to the schools, to Inman.
Monthly sessions are scheduled.
The 4-H After School program is a nationwide effort to bring 4-H-style activities to children in their schools who may or may not be involved in a traditional 4-H Club.
Shawna Mitchell, McPherson County Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth, said the after school program is not intended to be a recruitment tool for existing 4-H clubs, but a way to reach youth in a different way and reach those youth who, for whatever reason, are not able or do not wish to participate in an organized 4-H club.
“There are a bunch of benefits to this program,” Mitchell said. “The kids can have a new experience that may not be available somewhere else, it gives them something to do after school and it's an opportunity to create another relationship with a caring adult.” Read More
