On November 1, the 65-foot Pacific Sliver Fir was harvested from a steep bank above the Olympic National Forest headwaters of the Wynoochee River that is in Grays Harbor County.
It is the first Washington tree to be chosen since the U.S. Forest Service started providing the Capitol Christmas tree in 1970.
